Onsite Wastewater Management (Septic Field) Installers Course

The Onsite Wastewater Management Course is a five-day program designed for septic field installers and contractors who wish to be certified with Manitoba Sustainable Development as Onsite Wastewater Management Systems Installers.

The course consists of a manual, classroom instruction, a written exam and industry displays to showcase the latest onsite wastewater management products. Course is held @ RRC Notre Dame campus in Winnipeg twice a year:

  • September-October annually
  • May annually

Upon successful completion of the course participants will receive a Red River
College Certificate of Achievement they can present to Manitoba Sustainable
Development to be registered as a Certified Installer. Grade 11 is a suggested requirement.

Course Description
This course prepares the participants to write the exam required by Manitoba Sustainable Development in order to apply to be a certified installer of onsite wastewater systems. For information, visit Manitoba Sustainable Developments website.

Course topics include basic mathematics, legal and administration requirements, health and safety, confined space entry, wastewater characteristics and treatment, soils analysis, soils field test, disposal fields, septic tanks, pumps / controls / alarms, secondary treatment systems, sand mounds, total area fields, field design calculations, construction and installation, inspection and maintenance, wastewater hauling, and permit requirements / review.
